Calling all coding hacks!
Back in December, VMware launched the VMware Script-O-Mania contest. The goal of the Script-O-Mania contest is to help our wider community adopt ESXi by providing useful, fun and powerful scripts to manage the ESXi platform. But this isn’t just fun and games – there’s real prizes!
- 1st Prize $2,500
- 2nd Prize $1,000
- 3rd Prize $500
So polish off those scripting skills and get coding. The contest ends on March 15, 2010. You can find full details and submit your entry here.

Does the script have to be RCLI script? Is it open to other scripts like Jython scripts built on top of VI Java API? If so, I will call actions from the community. Thanks!

Ts & Cs are on the bottom of the site linked to in the article. Specifically it says, “Products to be used: vSphere PowerCLI, vCLI or other vSphere API bindings, and VMware solutions. Please remember our target users are administrators”. The VI Java API falls under the other vSphere API bindings part. Of course it also says that VMware employees are ineligible. Sorry, Steve.

Thanks Mike for the clarification!
I read that part and wasn't 100% sure about Java as most time people don't call the program as a script. So I want to confirm before I call actions from the open source VI Java API community so that I don't need to recall in case I got it wrong.
